I want an AU where merlin, like arthur, doesn't know about the prophecy.

I want an AU where he follows his heart without a sense of fear.

I want an AU where he gradually gets to know arthur without the weight of those expectations and the prophecy doesn't hang over them like the sword of damocles

I want an AU where he still finds his place alongside arthur, but doesn't lose himself by turning himself into a weapon in the hands of the "king of the past and to come"

I want an AU where trying to follow or avoid the prophecy doesn't form a chasm between them.

I want an AU where arthur doesn't think about the fact that merlin stayed by his side because he saw him as a fulfillment of prophecy, not a friend.

I want an AU where they learn of the prophecy together, years later when albion is prosperous, and have a long talk about what fate means to them.

So his eyes actually are kinda odd, because his whole body is. They're strange and amphibian-esque, with sideways diamond-slit pupils and gold yellow all over. Also you can see the entire eyeball through his eyelid because his skin and muscles are translucent... which is deeply unpleasant even for a Nossie and honestly he can't stand to look at himself, so he wears the masks.

the worst part of my depression/adhd/whatever is that i love my friends so so much and i want them to be happy but i'm just so tired and anxious and avoidant all the time so i literally cannot respond to Any of them. hell it might not even be my neurodivergency, i had literally One Friend growing up and maybe it's still habit that i can only keep up with one. and i always feel so fucking sad and guilty seeing so many notifications on discord because i love talking to these people, it's just really, really, really hard for me and i'm just so. frustrated

+ a character's decision being objectively the best solution for the situation FOR THAT CHARACTER, from their point of view and for their own well-being (just having terrible consequences for your own blorbo).

One thing i've run up against when dealing with fandom and characters making less than ideal choices is that people seem to treat a character's decision being sympathetic, the decision being understandable, the decision being reasonable, and it being objectively the best solution for the situation, as synonymous. When those are 4 very different things.

I know the OP is saying this in a bit of a lighthearted way to be nice but I'm not that nice and I'm frankly really appalled at what I've been seeing so I'm going to explain why you shouldn't do that.

AI CANNOT create on its own. It's not that smart. Anyone who's ever built any sort of language AI can tell you with 100% certainty it's not that smart. It can "learn" and it can "create" sentences, but it needs to be fed a language to do so.

So it will only ever "create" based on what it's fed. This is absolutely crucial.

There are ethical ways to do this. I did this in my undergrad with my class, taking .txt files of old classic books and feeding them to our programs for words/sentences. That way our programs were only ever "creating" from works that did not break copyright laws.

But feeding an AI someone else's fanfic? Yeah, now you've given the language model SOMEONE ELSE'S WORK to learn off of WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION.

It doesn't matter that it's a fanfic and technically, the author does not own the characters/setting. They created the story, they engaged in creative exercise, so that fanfic is theirs. YOU do not have the right, legally, to take THEIR work and do what you want with it, much less feed it to an AI who will take their work and now use it to further its language learning.

Especially since AIs like Chat GPT have a payment model. Now someone else is making money off of a fanfic author's work, and YOU directly contributed to that.
